This family of low quiescent current low-drain (LDO) linear regulators was originally designed for handheld communication equipment and portable battery-powered applications, and can also be used in automotive applications requiring ultra-low quiescent current. It should be used as a post-regulator since this product does not have the high input transient voltage protection inherent in automotive battery operation. This series features an ultra-low quiescent current of 2.5µA. Each device includes a voltage reference unit, error amplifier, PMOS power transistor, resistors to set the output voltage, and protection features such as current limit and temperature limit circuits. The NCV663 works with low-cost ceramic capacitors and requires a minimum output capacitance of 0.1 µF. The device features a tiny SC82-AB surface mount encapsulation. Lead-free plating options available. Standard voltage versions are 1.5, 1.8, 2.5, 2.7, 2.8, 3.0, 3.3 and 5.0 V.
