The NCP4306 is a high performance driver designed specifically for controlling synchronous rectification MOSFETs in switch mode power supplies. Due to its high-performance driver and versatility, it can be used in several topologies such as DCM or CCM flyback, quasi-resonant flyback, forward and half-bridge resonant LLC. A combination of externally adjustable or fixed adjustable minimum switching interval periods helps to combat ringing from PCB layout and other parasitic elements. Reliable low-noise operation of the SR system is guaranteed due to the self-synchronization function. The NCP4306 also utilizes the driver Kelvin connection of the MOSFETs for high efficiency operation at full load and a light load sense structure for high efficiency at light loads. The driver's precise turn-off threshold, very low turn-off delay time, and high sink current capability enable the longest synchronous rectification MOSFET turn-on time and highest SMPS efficiency. This high accuracy driver and 5V gate clamp enable the use of GaN MOSFETs.
